Inside the Bandon Vortex
Neptune's Lagoon
Neptune's Lagoon can be observed by passing through the Cave of Life during a minus tide.
Warning: If it gets foggy, leave immediately.
Pigeon Guillemots dive for food from the surface, swimming underwater, feeding on fish and other aquatic animals, particularly sculpins, sandfish, cods, and crabs.
Common Murres have fast direct flight but are not very agile. They are more maneuverable underwater, typically diving to depths of 100–200 ft, and depths of up to 600 ft have been recorded. It is often seen carrying fish in its bill with the tail hanging out. Common Murres breed in colonies at high densities, nesting pairs may be in bodily contact with their neighbours. They make no nest, their single egg is incubated on a bare rock ledge on a cliff face. Both male and female Common Murres moult after breeding and become flightless for 1–2 months.
ask mongo
Dear Mongo: Last year my husband was inside the Cave of Life, gazing into Neptune's Lagoon. All at once it became foggy and he swears he saw a dragon. He left immediately. I believe him, but no one else does. Please don't reveal the dragon sighting he had. We don't want hundreds or maybe thousands of dragon hunters and fantasy role players flocking to Bandon every year, holding conventions and filling up all the hotel rooms and vacation rentals. Please keep it a secret.
Mongo: The truth must be revealed. Others have claimed the same thing.
